We had this radio from the mid-1990s to the early 2000s. These radios featured wicked AM reception, like the TRF before them, with sharp nulling abilities. It was with one of these that I heard my one Transatlantic DX logging, Vatican Radio, in the late-nineties. The Optimus had excellent-quality sound, and included good FM reception. Unfortunately, like the TRF before it, the Optimus HP was not sturdily designed, and prone to mechnical failure. The unit has long since been retired and stripped for useable parts. |
