SN 1987 (Supernova) - 2025-02-23 @ 00:00 (-0d, 20h, 59m)
SN 1987A was discovered by Ian Shelton--a Canadian--and Oscar Duhaide, at the Las Campanas Observatory, in Chile, now 38 years ago. Continuous telescopic observations ever since have revaled an evolving, growing supernova remnant. The supernova was located within the Large Magellanic Cloud, which neighbours our own Milky Way. The supernova was the first one visible to the unaided eye in several hundred years.
